Our fully resourced English planning based on Journey to the River Sea has just been relaunched — and it’s better than ever.
Back by popular demand, this much-loved unit has had a complete refresh, with:

The full unit includes 50 lessons across 10 weeks, designed for Year 5 and Year 6. Grammar is taught naturally through the text, so children learn key skills in context — and then apply them straight into their writing.
Across the unit, pupils work towards four extended outcomes:
– A non-chronological report
– A biography– Poetry
– A persuasive piece of writing
Everything is carefully sequenced to build confidence, creativity and technical accuracy — helping children develop their writer’s voice while meeting National Curriculum objectives.
